The future of photojournalism

The future of print journalism is often discussed in the media, but what about the future for photojournalists? Is there still a career opportunity here? Are photojournalists still needed when citizen journalists providing video and still images of news events that would be near impossible for journalists to have gotten? At a recent conference in Sydney, Australia, photojournalists gathered to hear about their possible fate. Photojournalists were told about the importance of having multimedia skills and freelancing so that they could be where the citizen journalists are.
